Day 11, Chateau Le Marais 72km

5 km descent from Sancerre as a wake-up call and before the heat of the day with a first short break at one of the many goat farms ‘le Chavignol’.

With Bieke cracking the whip we make speed as our days are now rather short due to the heat that makes it unhealthy to ride after noon. Al along the Loire shade isn’t abundant !

Two highlights at the end of the ride: first the ‘pont canal du Guétin’ where the canal lateral du Loire crosses the Allier river.

Second our accommodation of the day where we are surrounded by silence as we’re the only guests. Le chateau Le Marais is a 15th century castle in perfect condition. Strongly recommended!!!
