Short ride but the more interesting!

Firstly a little detour and climb brings us to an important historical place, at least inthe French history. Way back when religious wars were fought here in Europe, France battled Burgundy, more and better on Wikipedia...
 

secondly, spectacle in the air: for several minutes we could see ‘Grijze Wouw’ ‘Gray Kite’ ‘Elanus caeruleus’ , 4 of them circling above our heads.

Thirdly we had to say adieu to the Mediterranean waters as we crossed the water divide (watershed-interfluvium) with the Atlantic rivers, Marne and Meuse.
